So, here I am again, sitting in the waiting room of the V-E-T. I knew something was up this morning. Mommy was trying to act nonchalant, but she was obviously gathering up some of my things and bringing in the carrier from the garage.
She says that we may get some really good news today. Last month, I came here and spent the day to have a glucose curve. That means the people monitor me all day and take my blood every hour or so to see how I respond to my food and insulin injections. Well, after that time, they told Mommy she could cut back on how much insulin she was giving me. They said to come back today, to have another curve done. And, they said if I'm doing even better this time, I may be able to stop the injections all together. Apparently, sometimes kitties with diabetes can go into remission, and their body starts making its own insulin again. Hopefully, that's what's happening with me.

Good luck with your test! We hope you can get off the insulin shots.

We're purring for good news and that you get to stop the shots too! We hope you get extra scritches tonight after being at the v-e-t's all day too!
ReplyDeleteUpdate: We didn't get the fabulous news that we were hoping for, but the results were still good. My doctor says my diabetes is well-controlled with my current diet and insulin injections, and that I need to keep going with the same routine. It was a long day of getting poked every hour and hearing all kinds of noises, but I'm home now sitting by the fireplace getting lots of nice attention. Thanks for all your purrs! -Daffodil
ReplyDeleteWe've been thinking about you today, Daffodil! we sure were purring for your diabolicals to be in remission. we are happy to hear you still had good results besides. Hang in there! and enjoy all your extra and well deserved attention :)

DeleteIt wasn't bad news at all, we just had our hopes up for great news. I'm really good at taking my shots, though. And Mommy says she will always do whatever it takes to keep me healthy. Purrs, Daffodil
